Doug Winfield, a self-proclaimed social-media expert, took out a Facebook ad that said: "I can help Shift Communications succeed in the worlds of digital, social and emerging influence." That niche ad showed up for Shift Facebook users and got their attention, a sign of how highly targeted ads can be an effective tool on the social network, writes Shift's Todd Defren.
