Beth Israel gives patients access to physician notes

Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston is beginning an "open notes" project that will give some 35,000 patients online access for a year to notes physicians write in their medical records. Researchers want to know if the notes can improve patient care because people will be more knowledgeable about their treatment.
