Twitter is used to aid professional development, classroom instruction

Some Philadelphia-area teachers say they are using Twitter to collaborate with other educators and connect their students with experts and resources that otherwise may be out of reach. Kim Sivick says she uses Twitter to help her fourth-grade students learn about geography by connecting them with people from those countries. "They learn they have a voice and they can be heard," she said. "When a 9-year-old gets a message from someone in Singapore, that's pretty powerful."
