Report: Tech spending is focused on new systems, refresh work

Businesses are spending money on technology to build new systems and advance mobile strategies but not on upgrading the PC fleet, according to Computer Economics' annual IT Spending and Staffing Benchmarks study. Tech budgets are up about 2.3% this year, a slight improvement over last year's 2.2% growth, and tech staff hiring is much more "selective," although 43% of businesses said they are adding to their ranks, up from 40% in 2012, the survey said.
