Bing Youth to focus on job skills for minority students

Former Detroit Mayor Dave Bing has established a program to mentor, educate and teach job skills to African-American males. The Bing Youth Institute has enlisted supporters, including schools, nonprofits, businesses and police officers. "The need is tremendous in Detroit and in urban America, quite frankly, because when you look at statistics relative to how young black males are doing, whether it's in school or just in their lives, the failure rate is way, way too high," Bing said.
