Craft distillers breathe new life into gin market

The craft distilling movement has sparked a renewed interest in gin, buoyed by more contemporary producers that are shifting away from the spirit's heavy, dry juniper flavor, according to Matt Tocco, beverage director for Pinewood Social bar and restaurant in Nashville, Tenn. Cocktail menus and liquor stores are expanding their selections of gin as "some really, really interesting products [are] coming on to the market," said Spirit Buyer and Sales Manager Nima Ansari of Astor Wines and Spirits in New York City.
