Senators write to Bush with Medicare concerns

Twenty-seven Republican senators wrote a letter to President Bush, urging him to make sure any changes to the government health care plan are "fiscally responsible." "We must move away from a Medicare-style, price-control structure that stifles quality and innovation, not impose these old ideas on an expended and reformed system," the senators wrote. They also said they believe that the survival of Medicare depends on incorporating private sector, market-based elements.
