FDA to look at study reclassifying youth suicide attempts while on antidepressants

FDA officials, under attack for rejecting analysis by one of its own experts concerning use of antidepressants in children, are looking at work by four Columbia University researchers studying reports of suspected suicide efforts by youngsters on antidepressants. The work involves reclassifying reports of suicide attempts based on a definition of what constitutes an attempt in an effort to clarify whether drugs may be the cause.
