Bridge showed "advanced corrosion" in 2006, Minnesota confirms:

A Minnesota highway bridge shut down earlier this month due to rusted gusset plates had raised concerns as early as 2006, when inspectors found "advanced corrosion" in the plates. The state DOT says no action was taken at the time because gusset plates were not identified as a major concern until last year's collapse of the I-35 bridge in Minneapolis.
