Majority of South Korea's foreign students are from China

More than 70% of South Korea's foreign students are from China, according to the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology. Efforts by universities to attract more foreign students have led to an 18.6% increase in enrollment of foreign students between 2008 and 2009. There were 75,850 foreign students in the country in April 2009. "It is true that Korea is the best geographical fit for Chinese students, but we will try to find a balance and variations by providing access to students from other countries, too," an education-ministry official said.
