AMA: Insurance coverage is an individual's responsibility

The American Medical Association said Monday that two-thirds of delegates who attended its annual meeting in Chicago maintained the AMA's position supporting individual responsibility for acquiring health insurance. It is only through broad participation in the health insurance market that key provisions of the Affordable Care Act, such as coverage of those with pre-existing conditions, can be carried out, said Dr. Cecil Wilson, the group's president.
