Teacher: Blogging has lasting benefits for students

Blogging can help foster students' creativity and teach them responsibility, says middle-school teacher Meredith Stewart. She writes in this blog post that all sixth-grade students at her North Carolina school are issued a tablet computer and a blog. Stewart suggests that educators seeking to take on similar projects make the lesson about more than blogging, provide structure, but give students some autonomy and emphasize digital etiquette.
