Hawaiian Electric picks 5 renewable-energy projects to support

Hawaiian Electric has chosen to support five renewable-energy projects on Oahu that it says could cut generation cost by about $7.4 million annually. To speed up the development of the five projects, HECO is seeking the go-ahead from state regulators to begin negotiations for long-term power purchase agreements with their developers. Meanwhile, HECO is giving 20 other renewable-energy projects another chance to send their pricing proposals.
