Latin tweets win the pope a big following

The Vatican has found unexpected social media success with a Twitter account that broadcasts the pope's words in Latin. The classical language has a long tradition of pithy, concise epigrams and poems, making it a fine fit for Twitter, says Vatican linguist Monsignor Daniel Gallagher. "It tends to express thoughts as briefly, as concisely, as precisely as possible," he explains.
