Mozilla, Stanford team up to build cookie blocker for browsers

Mozilla is working with the Stanford Center for Internet and Society to build a Cookie Clearinghouse, which would allow cookies only from first-party sites a user actually visits. Developers are still working to iron out kinks related to tracking by social widgets and other domains, but Mozilla expects to use the clearinghouse to limit third-party tracking in Firefox, a spokesperson said.
