S.C. could create tax-credit scholarship program

South Carolina lawmakers have approved a plan as part of the state's overall budget that would allow students with disabilities to receive scholarships up to $10,000 to attend private schools. The measure offers tax incentives to individuals and businesses for donating to nonprofits that will award the scholarships. If the governor signs the bill, the state will be among a dozen nationally that offer such programs.
