Slight gains in labor costs ease inflationary pressures

Labor costs in the developed world remain a muted factor in inflationary pressures, rising only 0.3% in the first quarter, according to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development. That was down from a 0.9% gain in the fourth quarter. Regionally, labor costs fell steeply in the U.S. but climbed in the eurozone, a potential drag on European exports.
