Starbucks looks to boost food sales

One in three purchases at Starbucks includes a food item, and the chain aims to boost its food sales further with new sandwiches and salads designed to drive lunch and afternoon snack-time sales, said CFO Troy Alstead. Food accounts for about 19% of Starbucks sales now, and the percentage is expected to grow as the chain augments the menu and upgrades the pastry selection with baked goods from recently acquired La Boulange bakery.
