U.K. implements label system for nutritional information

Retailers and food manufacturers in the U.K. have agreed to a uniform food-labeling system that uses stoplight colors to label fat, sugar, salt, calories and other ingredients. Not all products will conform, after Cadbury and Coca-Cola declined to participate, but companies including Mars, PepsiCo, Nestle, Tesco, Wal-Mart Stores unit ASDA, J Sainsbury and Wm Morrison Supermarkets have agreed to implement the system. Public health officials hope the labeling will reduce obesity.
