U.K. retail sales up sharply in May

A month-to-month jump in U.K. retail sales of 2.1% for May was much stronger than expected and may reinforce indicators of an upturn in the economy. However, some analysts suggest the gain is not enough to deter incoming Bank of England Governor Mark Carney from pushing for more stimulus when he takes office in July.
