Designer Naoki Takizawa spent 24 years working at high-fashion house Issey Miyake and had his own designer line before joining Tokyo-based Fast Retailing, first to lead efforts to use high-tech fabrics to create functional clothing and last year promoted to oversee the brand's entire lineup. "Uniqlo is not fashion, this is lifewear, but to make communication, maybe we can take the way from fashion, and at the same time, we can show what the important fundamental value is of each product," he said.
