FINRA considers bolstering penalties for misconduct

The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority is considering tougher penalties for financial misconduct due to criticism from Kara Stein, a member of the Securities and Exchange Commission. Susan Axelrod, executive vice president of regulatory operations at FINRA, said the agency is striving to ensure penalties are "meaningful and will have an impact."
