Small-business optimism among entrepreneurs is driving growth in the franchise industry, according to a recent IFA report, which predicts that the number of franchise establishments will increase by 1.7% this year to outpace 2013 by 0.3 percentage points. Growth is expected to be led by franchises in home health care, restaurants and professional services. "Increasingly folks are turning to franchising as a way to be in business for yourself, but not by yourself. I call it 'formula entrepreneurism,'" IFA President and CEO Steve Caldeira said.
