Natural foods spur sales growth for Kroger

Kroger reported a 4% rise in profits during the most recent quarter, and sales increased by 10% to almost $33 billion, boosted by double-digit growth in natural foods and a strong performance by the chain's private-label Simple Truth brand. The company has increased its sales and performance forecast for this year despite its challenges in passing increased costs on to consumers. Food prices in May rose 2.5% overall, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported.
