Pennsylvania's move to drop some Praxis tests irks veterans

Critics contend that the Pennsylvania Board of Education's decision last Friday to eliminate subject matter tests for some middle school teachers could lead less-than-highly qualified teachers to become certified. The Board maintains that allowing a three-year "bridge certification" based on teaching and writing experience will offer more educators expanded alternatives for demonstrating their expertise.
