Survey: Rochester-area grocery-store items drop in price

A survey of a fixed basket of 15 items shows overall prices have dropped slightly in the past two years at grocery stores in Rochester, N.Y. Prices at Wegmans , Wal-Mart and Tops on items such as milk, eggs, detergent and toothpaste were down an average of nearly 6% from July 2002. Tops handily beat the other chains with a price drop of nearly 16%, while Wal-Mart's prices went up 3.9%.
