The federal government has increased the amount of fines broadcasters face for airing indecent fare, but that doesn't begin to address the real problem, according to columnist Ruth Marcus. Amid "the constant avalanche of the inappropriate -- from talk shows to reality TV to prime-time dramas," the real indecency is that children are left to watch TV unsupervised, Marcus writes.
