Missouri construction firms struggle to stay afloat

Tighter credit markets have forced the Missouri construction industry to shed more than 11,000 jobs since April 2008. Some observers say that they believe the market has bottomed out but they do not expect a rapid recovery. Others note that competition has forced bids so low that some contractors may not be able to cover unexpected costs.
