ACC's Dooley pans EPA proposal to reinstate Superfund taxes

The Environmental Protection Agency on Monday sent letters to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and Vice President Joe Biden to further its intention of reinstating the Superfund tax on the oil and chemical industries. The American Chemistry Council questions EPA's proposal, as since the tax's demise in 1995, "responsible parties have continued paying for the cleanup of Superfund sites," said Cal Dooley, president and CEO of the ACC. "It would be inappropriate and unfair to impose Superfund taxes on companies with no responsibility for site contamination."
