Breakfast gives quickservice chains a boost

Breakfast business increased overall restaurant growth during the last half decade and morning customers helped stem the tide of declining visits during the downturn, according to research from the NPD Group. Quickservice and casual eateries increasingly have been responding to the trend with new menu items such as specialty coffees and breakfast sandwiches designed to meet the consumers' desire for quick, convenient and low-cost morning meals.
