Lehman chairman urged Barclays to acquire firm, Diamond says

Barclays President Robert Diamond said Richard Fuld, former chairman at Lehman Bros., called at least three times asking whether Barclays was interested in buying the investment bank in 2008. "The markets were depressed, and what was important to us was the price in the context of the turmoil in the financial markets," Mr. Diamond said. He was testifying at a trial regarding Lehman's claim that Barclays received an unwarranted windfall when it acquired parts of Lehman.
