Pittsburgh considers reorganizing some high schools

Pittsburgh school officials are proposing a reorganization of several high schools. The plan includes closing or transforming a number of schools to "right-size" the district, using federal reform strategies as well as teacher-effectiveness initiatives being sponsored by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. If approved by the school board -- set to vote July 21 -- the plan would be implemented for the 2011-12 school year.
