Study: HIE helps ED doctors make better clinical decisions

Emergency department physicians who have access to the Wisconsin Health Information Exchange said the exchange gave them quick access to patient data, resulting in improved clinical decisions, among other benefits, a Medical College of Wisconsin study found. The exchange also helps identify misuse of ED services because providers can see how many times a patient has visited a hospital ED in the region, one physician said.
