FCC seeks crackdown on phone "crammers"

The Federal Communications Commission will consider rules designed to prevent consumers from being hit with unauthorized charges on their phone bills, Chairman Julius Genachowski said Monday, adding that the agency wants to "empower consumers and protect Americans against cramming and mystery fees." AT&T said it reduced cramming complaints by 72% last year through its own measures.
