High-volume hospitals have better weight-loss surgery outcomes

Hospitals that performed at least 375 weight-loss surgeries annually had the lowest complication rates at 5.76%, while facilities that had 75 patients or fewer had the highest complication rates at 8.69%, according to a report from HealthGrades. The survey ranked 468 hospitals in 19 states; patients at the highest-ranked hospitals had shorter stays and lower bills than at the lowest-ranked facilities, according to HealthGrades.
