Restaurants are facing stiffer competition as supermarkets and convenience stores continue to improve their prepared food offerings, and the competition heats up later in the day as families turn their thoughts to dinner, according to Technomic. "Even though retailers are increasingly successful at matching the quality of restaurant food, some restaurant chains are aggressively challenging retailers on price," said President Ron Paul.
