China warns banks not to expect help with liquidity squeeze

The People's Bank of China told bank officials this week that they won't get any assistance in dealing with tightening liquidity conditions, according to the official Shanghai Securities News. The central bank told officials of 18 banks they should scale back their leverage ratios to cope with the cash squeeze. Money market rates in China have hit record highs in recent days.
