Fate of Lautenberg's chemical reform language unclear after meeting

Thursday's meeting of Senate Democrats to discuss the bipartisan bill to overhaul chemical regulations leaves it unclear how heavily an upcoming markup will draw from the version co-authored by the late Sen. Frank Lautenberg, D-N.J. Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-Calif., who chairs the Environment and Public Works Committee, has spoken out against the bill, saying it doesn't measure up to some state laws. During the meeting, Boxer reportedly indicated the bill's Democratic co-sponsors must not have understood its provisions.
