Female commercial captain traces pioneering career

Retired Air Force pilot and American Airlines Fleet Captain Kathi Durst began her career at part of the U.S. Air Force Academy's second admitted class of female aviators. She graduated in 1981, and spent seven years as a pilot in the Air Force before climbing up the ranks at AA. "Early on during my career at American Airlines there were a lot of men that had never flown with women. I’m hoping that in another 20 years it won’t be an issue," said Durst.
