NAB: Don't believe Time Warner Cable's "pro-consumer" hype

Time Warner Cable may be funding a so-called "pro-consumer" group to lobby Congress to change the retransmission-consent system, but its own practices suggest it's not so friendly to its own customers, NAB spokesman Dennis Wharton wrote in a blog post. The cabler, while objecting to retrans fees that "amount to a paltry 2 cents on every cable dollar," is imposing various rate hikes on its customers related to broadband and sports programming. "Time Warner Cable is a lot of things, but 'pro-consumer' is not one," Wharton added.
