Non-GMO label for meat, liquid egg products clears USDA

Labeling for liquid egg products and meat that includes a statement attesting that the product does not use genetically modified ingredients has received approval from the USDA, the first such approval for the agency. The labels state that the animals did not eat genetically modified food, as certified by the Non-GMO Project. A USDA spokeswoman said the new labels did not indicate "any new policy regarding non-G.E. or non-G.M.O. products."
