Non-GMO label for meat, liquid egg products clears USDA

Labeling for liquid egg products and meat that includes a statement attesting that the product does not use genetically modified ingredients has received approval from the USDA, the first such approval by the department. The label states that the animal did not eat genetically modified food, as certified by the Non-GMO Project. A USDA spokeswoman says the label does not indicate "any new policy regarding non-GE or non-GMO products."
