Offshore wind could be key in Japan's energy overhaul, exec says

Wind energy -- especially offshore -- will likely play a major role if Japan decides to increase its reliance on renewable energy, said Morten Albaek, Vestas Wind Systems senior vice president of marketing, communication and corporate relations. Conditions are favorable for wind power growth in Japan because of factors like above-market prices for clean energy, growing demand to curb fuel imports and strong public backing for renewable energy, Albaek said.
