Siemens venture targets 30% of China's offshore wind by 2015

Shanghai Electric Wind Energy, a joint venture of Siemens and Shanghai Electric Group, is looking to increase its share of China's offshore wind market to about 30% by 2015, according to CEO Jin Xiaolong. China is on course to add 2.5 to 3 gigawatts of offshore wind capacity by 2015, Jin said. China has 366 megawatts of grid-linked offshore wind capacity as of the end of last year, and an additional 5 GW is being planned by 2015, said Yi Yuechun, deputy chief engineer at the China Renewable Energy Engineering Institute.
