Striving for clarity on "natural" labeling

With no set definition for "natural" in food labeling, retailers and food-makers are setting standards that include listing ingredients that can't be in food labeled as natural. Safeway's Open Nature line, for example, bars the use of 130 ingredients, including ones that come from nature, such as palm kernel oil, in favor of simple, recognizable ingredients.
