Study ties generic-vs.-branded choices to income, product knowledge

Consumers who knew less or were not worried about money were more likely to purchase brand-name drugs over generics, suggests a study by Tilburg University in the Netherlands and the University of Chicago's Booth School of Business. Researchers analyzed purchasing patterns involving branded and generic over-the-counter painkillers and other, nondrug products.
