Seismic retrofit of California bridge a test of precision, planning

The Richmond-San Rafael Bridge in California is getting a $665 million seismic retrofit -- the largest in Caltrans history. Workers used a $10 million crane, made in Germany specifically for the project, to place million-pound, 100-foot concrete sections of the bridge with half-inch precision.
