Snapple ice-pop promo goes awry

Yesterday, the streets of Manhattan's Union Square ran red with the slushy ruins of a promotional effort by Snapple to topple the Guinness record for "The World's Largest Popsicle." With the help of agency Deutsch, Snapple was looking to publicize its new line of "Snapple on Ice" frozen treats while erecting a 25-foot-tall frozen kiwi strawberry ice pop on Union Square North, before the effort was abandoned when the ice pop began to melt.
