In the six years he has spent with 26 South Philadelphia students, Christopher Wiler has taught far more than reading and math; he hopes he's taught them how to thrive. "We're not playing with a hat factory. We're playing with minds," he said of shaping his students for the larger world. "I think of them as my own kids. ... Some of their lives aren't the best, and yet they have such resilience."
