Cessna begins idling plants in month-long furlough

Beginning today, thousands of Cessna workers will take a four-week furlough as the aircraft maker seeks to reduce costs in the face of a deep downturn. The company has cut its workforce by more than 50% since last November, and 1,300 more layoffs are planned. In addition to this month's company-wide shutdown, the company has added three weeks of rolling furlough for many non-production employees.
